If you haven’t heard of a little smart phone app called Instagram, you are missing out!
We started blogging about this little addictive jewel a year ago. There are now over 8 million users, all sharing their fun & quirky images with the many different Polaroid effects available in the app.

Last year we contacted the guys behind instagram about finding a solution to high resolution exporting (currently at 612×612 pixels)
Until we can get there, printing anything larger than a 5×5 print might get tricky and won’t look sharp.
There are a few ways to order.
1. Import your Instagram photos via your smart phone to your computer & upload to your Persnickety Prints account.2. Upload directly from iphoto with our iphoto plugin.
3. Install the free Persnickety Prints iPhone app to upload directly from your phone.
4. Create an account with Followgram for online instagram viewing. Right click the images you need, “Save As” to your computer. (remember these are 612×612 pixels)
5. Email images to your Persnickety account from your cell phone. (please allow 48 hours until imported)
6. Layout your Instagram photos 9-up on an 8×8 canvas- see below. Add text, description to the photos, or cut them out for other creative uses. Download Free .psd Template.

Gina- definitely… its really just a template for a smaller square photo as Instagram is only exporting at 612×612
Thanks for this! I sometimes use an Instagram as my photo of the day (Project 365), and I print my p365 photos, just as regular 4x6s. Of course this will be no surprise to you, they don’t print properly as 4×6 (resolution is fine, but aspect ratio is off, so part of the photo is cut off).
So I am looking forward to reprinting these with Persnickety.
I have a dumb question…if 4×4 will print OK, can’t I just put 9 Instagram photos on a 12×12 page? I am a digital scrapper so I can make a quick template for 9 4×4 clipping masks on a 12×12 page.

ABSOLUTELY! Instagram exports images as 612×612, as long as you keep them small- your resolution will be ok! We are working with Instagram on a more streamlined ordering process- and we’ll keep you posted!
I am a digi scrapper so I LOVE to take my Instagram and other iPhoneography into my design program to create a 12 x 12 page. Once I’ve completed a few pages, I upload them to Persnickety for printing and they are preserved forever. Having this quick output for Instagram is such a super idea!! Thank you!

How do I find you to print? It just shows local retailers?
Hi Mamajo- you should be able to enter our zip code: 84057
using the Lifepics app will allow you to upload into your cart. You will then need to login to a desktop computer to place the actual order. (cell phone credit card transactions are still a little risky)
