3 Steps to Export Print Ready Collect Cards

If you’re following us on Instagram, you may have noticed we love using the Collect App (iPhone only) for documenting memories on the go.

This app is set up to export a 4×6 or 3×4 print. The user can add the date the photo was taken (it reads the metadata from your photo) and a quick line of information on their printable card.

Please note: in order to export the proper card from the Collect App, you must be using the paid version. It’s the best $1.99 you’ll ever spend!

We’re still seeing some issues with aspect ratio and bordered images coming into the lab. I am going to add to Annette’s post here with some visuals.

Here is my month of January 2014. It’s not filled up, and that’s ok.

My personal goal is not a photo a day, but to document what I can. This app is my favorite for documenting those one-off photo moments that I want to remember, but may not take up an entire scrapbook page. I use the Project Life system for 12×12 layouts, and pocket pages. Adding a Month in Review of 3×4 cards from the Collect App at the end of each month has been working well for me.

3 Steps to Export Print Ready Collect Cards:

1. Open the Collect App on your iPhone. Click the little ↑ at the bottom of the app. Click Export Photos.

2. You do not have to export an entire month! Choose one day, or 10 in the Start/End Date feature. Select: Export Style.

3. Select: 3×4 OR 4×6 sized cards (please note: these are NOT the same aspect ratios!)
Select: Add Print Bleed

Go Back and EXPORT to Camera Roll. Your cards are ready to print!

If you see a small grey border- you’ve missed a step. When exporting a single card, you’ll also get the grey border.

Once your images are on your camera roll, you can order prints!
See Annettes post on how to do this via our Mobile App or simply plug your phone into your computer and upload to us at Persnickety Prints! Your archival prints will arrive at your door in just a few days, ready for you to slip into your pocket album for the whole family to enjoy!

This is exactly what I have been looking for keeping up with my very hectic life, traveling half of the days of each month. But I have an Android!!! Any idea if soon we will have that app?

We’ve seen comments from the developers of this app that it’s on their road map, not sure when!

I just received my first batch of 3×4 prints that I uploaded from my Collect app and I love them!!! I’m using them for Project Life and have noticed that while the prints slide easily into some 3×4 pockets, they won’t fit at all into others. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to avoid having to trim individual prints to fit into some of the pockets? Thanks!

That would be something to take up with Becky Higgins. Unfortunately, the plastics are not all created equal.

Not sure if this posted earlier. Sorry if it’s double. I was asking if there was an Android app that can do the same or similar to the Colelct App. I want to place my order but in this format..with the journaling at the bottom in polaroid type as pictured above.I loooove the look of this. No iphone here, Galaxy S5. Thank you!!

Hi Jessicka — as far as we know– there’s not a similar app for Android. You could always create something similar in photoshop?

Please share if there is an app that anyone can recommend for me that will do similar as this Collect App for Android phones? No Iphone, Galaxy S5 here. I want to order with this format with the journaling at the bottom in a polaroid look as shown above. Thank you!

Hi Jessica- We aren’t aware of one .. yet! Hang tight- hopefully the Collect App developer will work on an Android version

Chari, I’ve been so inspired by your Instagram and have two months of collect app photos to print. My question is, can I print a 12×12 of thepw whole month as viewed in Collect? I’m doing an April iPhone challenge and would rather one 12×12 as already organized on the Collect app. TIA!

Oooh! Good question! If the resolution is there- then YES! Are you familiar with photoshop? You’ll want to lay it out on a 12×12/square canvas as well.

      • Annette April 9, 2014 at 7:07 am #

Yes, you can create a high res version of the calendar view! I believe it’s one of the upgrades when you get the pro version. When you look at the calendar view, tap on the bottom left rectangle with the arrow, and tap create collage. Cardinal is the one that is square, high res. I’ve had it printed with Persnickety at 12×12 and it was beautiful!

Chari you are amazing! Thank you for making it so clear and simple!! Thanks for the link to my page too! So happy to help!!

Maybe I’m missing something, so I’d just like to to clarify… Persnickety can print my Collect App photo journaling entries as a 4×6 photo, not just 3×4? Is it portrait orientation only, or can they be printed in a landscape format? I’m assuming that my titles and dates are printed along with the photos on the fronts, but are all my notes and written journal entries printed on the back as well (just like in the app)? Please let me know. I’m very excited about this! Thank you in advance!

    • Persnickety Prints February 10, 2014 at 10:35 pm #

      Hi Wendi-
We CAN print your 4×6 cards as oriented in the app AND your 3×4’s.
For various reasons, we are not able to print the front and back.
      1. Photographic printing is single sided = no ink. It is a dark room process using the same chemicals, developer & stabilizer as the good ole film days. Once you move to double sided printing, it’s cardstock/ink and not as pretty, nor will it last as long! We are memory keepers- we want them to last!
      2. There isn’t a system in place to let us know which back you need to which front.
      3. When using cards in the pocket/project life system- most users want the journaling next to the image- not on the other side. (see Annettes)

Hope that helps & makes sense!
